The Import/Export Manager is in charge of handling the international orders and transport of goods and is responsible for managing the company's import and export operations, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and optimizing the efficiency and profitability of these activities.

• Manage international purchase orders to guarantee the coverage of requirements and replenishment needs according to production plans and defined inventory levels
• Coordinate intercompany purchases and deliveries, and triangular supply flows
• Manage the entire import/export process, from order placement to timely and efficient delivery, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and legal frameworks (including data privacy where relevant)
• Develop and implement import/export strategies that support the company's business goals and ensure compliance with international trade regulations
• Manage customs clearance procedures and ensure accurate and prompt import and export documentation, including customs declarations, bills of lading and other shipping documents
• Negotiate freight rates and agreements with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including sales, production, and finance, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
• Develop and maintain a network of relationships with key external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, logistics providers, government agencies, and industry partners, to secure competitive rates and reliable service
• Optimize shipping methods and routes to minimize costs and transit times
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, keeping the company informed of any changes
• Manage and maintain accurate records of all import/export transactions, including shipment status and delivery performance
• Monitor and track import/export activities to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement
• Manage and mitigate risks associated with international logistics
• Handle issues and challenges related to shipping and customs processes

Perfil del candidato

• Degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
• Masters degree or additional certifications in International Trade, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
• Prior experience in import/export operations, logistics, or supply chain management
• Deep knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, including customs procedures, tariffs, and trade agreements
• Excellent understanding of Incoterms to clarify split of tasks, costs, and risks associated with the transportation and delivery of goods
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Decision-making ability and sense of initiative to drive business success
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, encouraging collaborative efforts across different departments and locations
• Proficiency in English and one or more other foreign languages to facilitate international communication
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Knowledge of global market trends and dynamics
• Proficiency with office and logistics management software
• Diplomacy and open-mindedness to navigate cultural differences and international challenges
