The General Maintenance Worker position is a full-time role working 80 hours per two-week pay period on the day shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM). This position requires participation in on-call rotation as well as occasional weekend, overtime, and holiday hours. The General Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in maintaining the hospital's physical structure, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade, technical, or vocational training preferred

  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of HVAC (spot and central systems), electrical equipment and systems, mechanical repairs, fire alarm/signal systems, plumbing, and carpentry

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and interpret instructions

  • Physical ability to meet job demands, including lifting and equipment handling

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Basic computer and keyboarding knowledge

  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with good driving record

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on hospital facilities, equipment, and systems

  • Conduct minor electrical work, wiring, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and mechanical repairs

  • Test and maintain electrical circuits, lighting systems, fire alarms, and emergency generators

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs

  • Assemble and move hospital equipment and furniture as needed

  • Assist during hospital emergencies with facility-related support

  • Provide backup courier services and assist with equipment/supply deliveries and event setups

  • Support seasonal groundskeeping tasks, including lawn care, snow removal, and sidewalk maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues promptly

  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain a safe and compliant facility
