About the Role:

A Junior Operations Engineer supports the stability, monitoring, and day-to-day operations of systems and software. They assist in deploying changes, troubleshooting basic issues, and ensuring operational tasks run smoothly under the guidance of more experienced engineers.

The main purpose of the role is to help maintain operational reliability, assist with system monitoring and incident resolution, and contribute to process improvements while gaining hands-on experience with infrastructure and operational tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in system monitoring, alert handling, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Support deployment activities, configuration updates, and routine maintenance tasks.
  • Document operational procedures and help keep internal knowledge bases up to date.
  • Participate in incident response by capturing logs, escalating issues, and supporting root-cause analysis.
  • Handle operational tickets, including incident reports, service requests, and change tasks, escalating when necessary.
  • Follow runbooks and standard operating procedures for recurring operational tasks.
  • Help maintain the systems (check logs, automate manual tasks…) under supervision.
  • Contribute to improving automation scripts and simple tooling.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related fields, a recognized vocational or professional qualification in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience; relevant cloud certifications (e.g. Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate) are a plus.
  • 0–2 years of experience in IT operations, technical support, or monitoring roles.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or similar).
  • Basic experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, or JavaScript) and a willingness to learn how to apply code fixes under supervision.
  • Understanding of incident management processes and experience handling operational tickets or service requests.
  • Ability to follow runbooks, standard operating procedures, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Good documentation skills for updating incident reports, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Strong willingness to learn, take direction, and follow structured operational processes.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to clearly report issues and status.
