JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Accounting Associate, General Ledger, Commnet
Overview
The Accounting Associate, General Ledger will be responsible for supporting in the maintenance of accurate financial records by performing a variety of accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciliation, and reporting and plays a pivotal role in sustaining and promoting the efficient operation of a telecommunications finance shared services organization. This role involves preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and assisting with financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities (Ad hoc and other reports may be completed as requested)
· Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS/GAAP/SOX and company policies.
· Reconcile general ledger accounts, and investigate variances, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Support the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring deadlines are met.
· Perform intercompany reconciliations and liaise with stakeholders to resolve issues.
· Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
· Ensure compliance with internal controls and support process improvements within the finance shared services function.
· Work closely with Fixed Assets, Projects, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, other finance teams and operations to ensure data integrity.
· Support the automation and optimization of financial processes within the shared services environment.
· Maintain and update accounting policies, procedures, and documentation in line with internal controls and evolving business needs.
· Assist in the preparation of account analysis and flux explanations for management and external stakeholders.
· Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance across relevant processes.
Job Requirements
· An Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Bachelor's degree is advantageous.
· 3+ years of experience in an accounting or finance capacity, preferably in the telecommunications industry, large scale rental organizations or a finance-shared services environment.
· Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite) and GL accounting software.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze large data sets.
· Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Experience in managing general ledger audits and reconciliations.

Internal
The officer interacts frequently with other Executive team members, ATN shared service team management and resources, functional department heads, line management of the business offices/units, subsidiaries regarding projects, developments, operations and expenses, systems and procedures, consistent with the responsibilities of the job.
External
Interactions also occur with vendors and consulting subject matter experts and resources on matters relating to the Company's projects, operations and strategic initiatives. The officer may also interact with the shareholder's auditors, regulators, and the Company's legal, and accounting advisors from time to time, as may be consistent with the responsibilities of the job.
