About the role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer for our "Seqera Platform" team: a customer-facing product delivered both as a cloud and an on-premises solution that enables scientists to solve complex problems in biotech with a set of modern tools at their fingertips, and administrators and collaborators to have the access they need to scientific research.
The ideal candidate is passionate about addressing a wide range of technical challenges: not just frontend or backend, but also complex problems involving infrastructure, distributed programming, containerization, cloud architectures, and integrations.
Working on the Seqera Platform is an exciting opportunity to learn and work with a diverse range of technologies, and we are committed to build a process where we can deliver high quality and iterate fast, which requires us to develop solid engineering practices that include end-to-end testing, observability frameworks, deployment standards and automation as well as operational excellence processes.
What You'll Do
- You will lead a team of highly talented engineers who design, implement, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across our full software stack.
- Engage extensively with your product team and cross-functionally. This involves interpreting and integrating customer feedback into the development cycle to ensure our products not only meet but exceed user expectations
- You will collaborate with your fellow engineers to develop the best engineering practices. In short, be an active member of the organization: Improving processes. Documenting and creating onboarding artifacts. Helping with hiring, identifying and prioritize accordingly the technical backlog accordingly. Generating a valuable impact on the engineering culture in Seqera
About you
- With a strong foundational knowledge in software engineering, you have experience in both front-end and back-end development, and are able to ramp up quickly on new frameworks and technologies.
- You have experience in writing optimized, well-tested, and secure code in both front-end and back-end settings. This includes proficiency in implementing efficient algorithms, using best practices in coding standards, and adhering to security measures to protect data integrity and prevent vulnerabilities.
- Have proven experience designing, modeling, and operating database systems. You are able to guide data modeling decisions, schema evolution, and performance trade-offs as the product scales.
- Have proven experience in API Design and Best Practices: you should handle requests from a set of different clients and products from the Seqera Ecosystem and from our Enterprise use cases
- Have worked on cloud architectures and cloud application deployments: you should have worked with at least one of the major cloud providers and have built distributed architecture on top of its service offering
- You are familiar with container technologies and orchestration solutions such as Kubernetes and/or Docker Compose
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of HPC and Batch solutions, both on-premise and in the cloud (AWS Batch, Google Batch and/or Azure Batch)
- You have worked with Angular and React before
- You are passionate about the whole application life cycle, you have not just designed and implemented elegant code and solutions but also deployed them, monitored them, maintained them, and iterated on them in your experience
- Experience in both Enterprise and Saas architectures.
