About the Role
The Buyer Assistant plays a key role supporting the sourcing, purchasing, and follow-up of mechanical components and assemblies.
You will work closely with the Category Buyers and the Operations team to ensure reliable supplier performance, on-time deliveries, and the availability of materials needed for production.
The role includes approximately 30% on-site activity, visiting our warehouse, Tier 1 facilities (material reception and verification), and Tier 2 suppliers (outsourced machining, mechanical services, and potential new suppliers).
Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Assist in the procurement of mechanical components, ensuring alignment with specifications, timelines, and cost targets.
Maintain daily communication with suppliers to track order status, confirm delivery dates, and resolve issues promptly.
Report deviations in delivery schedules or quality, and propose corrective actions.
Sourcing & Supplier Development
Support the sourcing of new Tier 2 suppliers for machining and mechanical services, evaluating capabilities, compliance, and competitiveness.
Participate in the negotiation of commercial conditions under the guidance of the Category Buyer.
Contribute to supplier evaluations and performance scoring.
On-Site Activities ( 30%)
Perform on-site verifications and reception of mechanical parts and assemblies at Tier 1 facilities.
Visit Tier 2 suppliers to assess manufacturing processes, validate production readiness, and follow up on outsourced activities.
Documentation & Reporting
Ensure proper documentation of purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier confirmations in ERP and procurement tools.
Maintain up-to-date records of procurement status and provide regular reporting to the Category Buyer Mechanical and the Operations Manager Europe.
Support compliance with company standards and legal requirements.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
Technical or business-related degree (Engineering, Industrial Management, Supply Chain, etc.).
2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, ideally in mechanical or manufacturing environments.
Skills & Competencies
Strong communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Analytical mindset and ability to make quick, informed decisions.
Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working across different sites and countries.
Knowledge & Tools
Basic understanding of mechanical components and machining processes.
Knowledge of supply chain and procurement fundamentals.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), ERP systems, and procurement platforms.
Languages
Fluent English.
Other European languages (Spanish, French, or German) are a plus.
