Job Description:
Supervisor Clinical PharmacySupervises clinical and quality improvement activities for pharmacy services to assure safe and effective drug therapy management with optimal patient outcomes. As a member of the pharmacy leadership team, the Pharmacy Clinical Supervisor leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and all activities related to the drug formulary, drug therapy monitoring, and medication use related standards of practice.SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates proficiency in hospital computer systems, software programs, and applicable office equipment
- Demonstrates knowledge of all current federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of pharmacy
- Knowledge of governmental and other regulatory standards and guidelines related to healthcare quality improvement. Examples include Joint Commission, AHRQ, CMS condition of participation, and IHI
- Displays ability to interact professionally and communicate clearly and effectively (verbal and written) with members of the pharmacy, other health care professionals, and the public
- Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision
- Exhibits strong decision-making skills and the ability to foster a team environment by providing support and direction for the pharmacy staff members
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively, handle multiple tasks, and make critical decisions to ensure pharmacy services are provided in a timely manner
- Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to assess patient needs, incorporating age and disease specific characteristics to optimize pharmacotherapy
- Demonstrates medical literature evaluation skills and understanding of evidence-based medicine
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations
- Maintains regular, consistent, and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES
- Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree required
- Current Oregon Pharmacist license required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) certification through Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), or other relevant BPS certification preferred
EXPERIENCE
- Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 residency followed by a minimum of three years of pharmacy practice experience; or
- Completion of ASHP accredited PGY1 and PGY2 residencies with one or more years of pharmacy practice experience; or
- Five or more years of pharmacy practice experience
- Managerial or clinical coordinator experience preferred
