As the NDT Specialist you will provide technical services for advanced NDT inspections conducted at petrochemical and petroleum refineries, wind farms, pulp and paper plants and other industrial facilities as required.
How you will make the difference
Using both manual and digital data acquisitions systems in performing and interpreting non-destructive tests you will:
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Interpret radiographs, cathode ray tube (CRT) or digital readouts, conductivity meters and visual indicators.
- Organize and report test results.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- May instruct and supervise others. Responsible for technical leadership and mentoring of NDT Staff.
- Interface daily with the client about work priorities and progress of projects
- Actively participate in client programs, planning and strategy sessions
- Work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles
- Actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.
- Able to travel extensively overseas to and from projects and various field assignments.
- Willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments.
- Ability to spend considerable time away from home for training and field assignments
- Having exceptional safety and quality awareness.
- Maintaining current certifications in visual testing (VT), penetrant testing (PT) and ultrasonic testing (UT) are pre-requisites whilst eddy current testing (ET) and magnetic testing (MT) certificates are also desirable.
- Being able to demonstrate your ability to effectively perform NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections.
- Possessing strong code shooting capabilities.
- Holding a IRRSP or State Card is preferable.
