Description

IMDEA Energy is seeking to recruit a person to lead the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Group, who will drive the institute's scientific and technological activity in AI, promoting research, development, and innovation projects applied to various energy fields.

The selected candidate will be responsible for defining the roadmap and annual action plans for AI within IMDEA Energy, leading multidisciplinary teams, and representing the institute before national and international organizations in the field of AI applied to energy.

Principales tareas a desarrollar:

• Implement the AI research strategy in line with IMDEA Energy's scientific and technological plan.
• Lead R&D&I projects in AI applied to energy (process optimization and automation, predictive analytics, intelligent control, simulation, digital twins, etc.).
• Manage and coordinate a team of researchers, engineers, and data scientists.
• Promote the acquisition of competitive funding through European, national, and regional projects, as well as contracts with companies.
• Foster technology transfer, creation of patents, software, and prototypes.
• Define and oversee the provision of technological resources dedicated to AI within the institute, including both software and hardware.
• Establish strategic collaborations with universities, technology centers, and industry.
• Ensure scientific and ethical quality in the use of data, responsible AI, traceability, and reproducibility, verifying compliance with national and international regulations.
• Promote training and mentorship of research staff in AI and data science.
• Represent the IMDEA Energy in forums, networks, and consortia related to AI applied to the energy sector.

Requirements

Compulsory Requirements

• PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Applied Physics, or related fields.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in AI, data science, or intelligent automation.
• Minimum of 5 years as principal investigator of R&D&I projects at the national or international level.
• Fluent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
• Interested parties should submit a brief proposal for a research plan to be developed. The maximum length of the document is 3 pages. Attach it in the "Brief Research Proposal" section.

Others to value:

• Additional training in energy, electrical or industrial engineering will be valued.
• Experience in applying AI in the energy or industrial sectors.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in producing scientific publications or achieving demonstrable technological results such as articles, software, patents, or prototypes.
• Experience using AI and data tools such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, MLflow, etc.
• Experience with data infrastructures, HPC, or cloud environments for applied AI.
