Equipment Mechanic

Overview

Equipment mechanics are primarily responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of construction machinery, equipment, vehicles, and related mechanical systems . This position requires solid mechanical repair skills and diagnostic capabilities to ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment, thereby supporting the smooth progress of project construction and enterprise production.

Responsibilities

  1. Equipment inspection and maintenance

Regularly conduct routine inspections of engineering equipment (such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, road rollers, cranes, etc.).

Perform preventative maintenance, including changing engine oil, filters, hydraulic fluid, brake pads, belts, etc.

Ensure that the equipment meets safety and operational standards.

  1. Fault Diagnosis and Repair

Use hand tools and diagnostic equipment to detect equipment malfunctions.

Repair or replace damaged mechanical parts, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and transmission systems.

Handle sudden equipment failures, quickly restore operation, and reduce downtime.

  1. Records and Reports

Fill out the equipment repair and maintenance log and spare parts replacement record.

Report major equipment problems to the equipment supervisor or workshop manager.

Suggestions for improving equipment performance and extending its lifespan are proposed.

  1. Parts and Inventory Management

Assist in managing the inventory of repair parts and tools.

Ensure that qualified spare parts are used to avoid safety hazards.

Communicate with the purchasing department regarding the required parts and consumables.

  1. Safety and Compliance

Comply with occupational health and safety regulations (HSE).

Take protective measures at the maintenance site to avoid equipment damage and personal injury.

When handling fuel, engine oil, and chemicals, adhere to environmental and safety standards.

Job Requirements

Vocational school/high school diploma or above, with priority given to candidates majoring in mechanical engineering, automotive repair or related fields.

Possess equipment and machinery repair certificates or technician qualifications .

At least 2–5 years of experience in the repair of construction machinery or vehicles.

Familiar with hydraulic, transmission, electrical and diesel engine systems.

Able to read equipment manuals and technical drawings.

Physically healthy and able to adapt to outdoor or construction site working environments.
