About Your New Role

Our Platforms Team is a diverse and dynamic group focused on crafting and maintaining high-performance platforms, primarily leveraging the power of Amazon Web Services and Kubernetes. We're all about growth here – from dedicated Friday training sessions and daily collaborative pair-programming to shadowing opportunities and access to popular e-learning resources, we truly believe in your development.

We do have an Error Budget, track our key performance indicators, foster observability, and we moved our first steps into Chaos Engineering years ago. We're also aware we're not Google or Netflix, etc. so we adapt SRE, SAFe and Agile to fit our unique context, always genuinely trying to walk the talk.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you'll be a key contributor, diving into:

  • Architectural Vision: Shaping the design of our next-gen platforms.

  • Performance & Reliability: Enhancing the robustness and efficiency of our current systems.

  • Security Integration: Embedding security best practices early in the development lifecycle, thinking "shift-left" in a DevSecOps way.

  • Automation: Automating routine tasks to eliminate TOIL, boost efficiency and streamline operations.

You'll also play a role in incident response and post-mortem analysis, helping us learn and continuously improve.



What You Will Bring to the Team

Our ideal Senior SRE is a seasoned systems engineer with:

  • Deep expertise in Linux and containerization technologies.

  • Proven, production-level experience with AWS.

  • Strong programming skills in Python or Go/Rust.

  • A solid grasp of modern distributed systems architectures.

  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (think ElasticSearch, Fluentd, Prometheus, OpsGenie).

  • The ability to enable seamless, self-service deployments through robust continuous delivery pipelines.

  • A foundational understanding of IT security concepts (like Penetration Testing, XSS, SQLi, OWASP Top 10).

  • A genuine willingness to share knowledge and continuously expand your skillset.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Production experience with Kubernetes and/or Terraform.

  • Familiarity with cutting-edge architectural patterns like microservices and serverless.

  • Exposure to AWS Billing and cloud cost optimization.

  • Experience in blue teaming and or pentesting.

  • Programming skills in Go or Rust.

  • A clear understanding of the crucial distinction between observability and monitoring.

  • Experience participating in on-call rotations for internet-facing production environments.

Full disclosure: We do have "vintage" platforms, however, they operate within cloud environments and were built using Infrastructure as Code. Our newer systems leverage Kubernetes and relevant AWS services.
