- About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a strong Data and Backend background to join our growing team. As a Founding Engineer on the team, you will be responsible for building a scalable backend infrastructure for our data-intensive web app, optimizing storage/database workloads, ensuring high availability for our AI/ML backend services, scaling our integrations with multiple tools for ingesting different data types, and building robust data pipelines for data transformation and processing. You'll partner closely with Full-Stack Engineers and AI/ML Scientists to ship production systems powered by LLMs and ML models.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and own scalable backend services for our data-intensive web app and AI/ML model serving
- Make database and storage trade-offs to optimize for the best performance when managing large amounts and varieties of data, including vector stores
- Build robust batch and real time data pipelines that can scale with increased load and data
- Build and maintain data integrations with different data sources and platforms (source and sink)
- Design and manage the evolution of flexible data models and database infrastructure to handle different types of data sources and data points, optimizing for fast reads/writes
- Implement and manage a robust workflow orchestration for multiple data jobs
- Setup robust testing practices, monitoring and observability to ensure the reliability of all services and data pipelines
- Stay up-to-date with Software Engineering and Data Engineering Best Practices
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Solid CS fundamentals and distributed systems knowledge is a must-have
- Experience building scalable data pipelines, orchestrating workflows and optimizing pipelines
- Experience working with data warehouse technologies
- Experience working with TypeScript/NodeJS/Python and a strongly typed language
- Very comfortable working across the data and backend
- Comfortable managing cloud infrastructure for backend, ML and data pipelines at scale (DevOps)
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Frontend and Machine Learning Engineers
Additional Requirements
- Previous experience working with LLMs
- Familiarity with vector databases/stores
- Ability to work across the stack and pick up new tools/technologies
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
