Data Science Lead

Responsibilities and Duties

• Translate the department's strategic vision into actionable data science projects, ensuring alignment with business needs.
• Oversee and support with the design and implementation of scalable AI and data science solutions, from prototypes to production-ready systems.
• Manage project prioritization, resources, and timelines to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Provide strategical oversight and architectural guidance for data science solutions, agentic AI platforms, AI/ML models and data pipelines ensuring alignment with best practices and business objectives.
• Align with the engineering teams to facilitate smooth transitions of data science and AI pipelines into production ready systems
• Ensure robust monitoring, testing, and benchmarking processes are in place to maintain model quality and pipeline performance.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
• Mentor and support the professional growth of data scientists, ML engineers, and analysts in the department.
• Serve as the key bridge between leadership, clients, and technical teams, clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate with other departments to integrate data science initiatives into broader organizational workflows.
• Ensure that security policies, procedures, and standards within their area of responsibility are followed correctly and the ISO certification and ISMS is supported within the scope of the role

Education, Required Skills, and Experience

• M.Sc. in data science, machine learning, computational methods or similar quantitative field.
• 6+ years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with at least 2–3 years in leadership or team lead capacity.
• Client facing experience in technically driven project communications, acting as SME for AI and tech aspects of the client engagement
• Proven track record in building and deploying data science products, including model development, evaluation, full pipeline orchestration and scaling.
• Strong applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, NLP/LLM frameworks including fine tuning, RAG, and AI agent frameworks.
• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps practices, cloud deployment, scalable data architectures, LLM custom deployments and services.
• Proficiency in Python including core data science stack libraries and deep learning frameworks like pytorch, tensorflow, peft or others
• Working knowledge of API/web service development
• Working knowledge of SQL/NoSQL/Vector databases.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Skills and Experience

• PhD in quantitative field
• Fluency in German or Arabic
• Experience in developing AI solutions for different business verticals
• Experience in building agentic solution platforms
• Experience building and integrating data science teams
• Experience in consumer psychology and behavioral drivers
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and distributed computing frameworks e.g. PySpark.
