JOB PURPOSE
To support the implementation of standards logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
Within the delegated authority, the incumbent shall perform the following operational processes and activities that contribute to the successful and efficient management of WFP Logistics Hub operations in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (these duties are generic and thus not all inclusive).
Coordinate and monitor the logistics activities conducted by WFP in Las Palmas (LPA) related to the transshipment and storage of WFP food and non-food resources (GCMF, UNHRD and other as required).

•Monitor the flow of WFP goods through the Warehouse Management System and other corporatecommodity tracking and accounting system tools (WMS, LESS, SAP-WINGS, etc.).

•Post daily movement of WFP goods (food & non-food) in corporate data management systems;and monitor the accurate use and quantification of loading orders.

•Support liaison with WFP agents, (Shipping, Clearing & Forwarder, Superintendent, port, silos,etc.); monitor vessel discharges, cargo receipts and dispatches of WFP shipments; and keep track,assess, and report on the safety, quantity and quality of WFP goods.

•Process documentation for execution of logistics operations (e.g., customs clearance, invoiceverification, etc.), take appropriate actions to resolve operational matters and escalate as/whenneeded.

•Prepare, verify and sign off warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential filesand accurate warehouse transaction records to ensure immediate reporting on commoditymovements in line with the corporate requirements.

•Perform daily inspections and prepare regular reports on the quantity and quality of thecommodities received/dispatched and handled, detect promptly and analyze reasons for any stockdiscrepancies/damages, investigate missing quantity and prepare warehouse loss reportsrecommending appropriate solutions, to enable informed decision-making.

•Implement appropriate measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, to ensure qualitycontrol using the standard preventive measures in line with WFP established procedures andauthorization received from the supervisor.

•Monitor condition of the warehouse and commodities and take appropriate actions, to supportefficient warehouse space-planning and well-organized commodity storage following WFP warehousestandards.

•Provide guidance and on-the-job training to warehouse staff to contribute to their developmentand high performance.

•Assist and advice as/when relevant on the timely and accurate air/rail/road/vessel movement andschedules.

•Perform any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:

• Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Required Experience:

• Four or more years of progressively responsible work experience in the relative business stream including at least a minimum two years in WFP Supply Chain operations (Logistics, Shipping and Procurement).

Competencies

• Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes underminimal supervision and strong time management.

• Knowledge of standard office software packages, e.g., Microsoft Word,PowerPoint and Excel including SAP/WINGS.

• Good written and verbal communication in English

• Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information from a wide range ofindividuals.

• Team player as well as ability to work independently and drive individualactivities with own initiative.
Language:

• Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Spanish isrequired.
