IT Architect

About The Role
We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Regional Architect for the Spain & Italy region to lead architectural initiatives and ensure alignment with Sanoma Learning's enterprise architecture.

This role combines architectural leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and regional platform oversight.

As Regional Architect, you will act as the primary architectural liaison for the Spain & Italy region, translating local business needs into scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the regional technology landscape, supporting the development of integrated and future-ready educational platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Technical Leadership

• Lead architectural design for regional platforms and applications, ensuring integration with central Sanoma Learning solutions.
• Maintain a clear overview of the regional application portfolio and define roles and responsibilities for development and maintenance.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and central architecture teams to ensure alignment and reuse.
• Act as a regional voice in enterprise-wide architecture forums and contribute to roadmap planning.
• Support walkthroughs and technical workshops for key Sanoma Learning initiatives.

Regional Architecture Management

• Translate regional business needs into scalable and secure architectural solutions.
• Ensure architectural consistency and interoperability across platforms.
• Define and enforce architecture standards and best practices.
• Align regional architecture with enterprise-wide strategic goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with product owners, engineering teams, and central architecture to ensure cohesive platform development.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and architectural alignment across regions.
• Provide expert consultation on integration and legacy system transitions.

Operational Oversight

• Maintain architectural documentation and application portfolio overview.
• Support budgeting and resource planning for regional architecture initiatives.
• Ensure operational integrity and scalability of regional platforms.

Must-Have Technical Skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field

Minimum of 7 years of experience in solution or enterprise architecture

Strong understanding of educational platforms and regional market needs

Experience with integration, interoperability, and legacy system transitions

Fluent in Spanish or Italian preferred; English required

Proven ability to lead architectural initiatives and collaborate across teams

Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and tools

Strong communication skills for conveying complex architectural concepts

Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)

Knowledge of microservices and API management

Familiarity with educational technology standards and compliance

Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps practices

Understanding of data privacy and security regulations in education
