Job Description

As a software engineer within our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing solutions that support delivery improvements (both business and technical) across a large organisation. Candidates must possess a flair for creative and innovative solutions, as well as a passion for continuous improvement and the ability to pick up new skills quickly and well.

You will be located in Málaga, Spain and working on-site for our client (a large, global, telecommunications corporation). Our team ranges in skillsets including strong backgrounds in mission critical, high availability and near real-time systems, multi-node/cluster systems, as well as the latest technologies such as distributed computing architectures.

The team works with high performance databases as a data monitoring tool, up to 100TB in size, and often incorporate hardware and middleware into the scope of the project, to provide the client with full solution design and delivery. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced, corporate environment, possess quality communication skills and work well with others as well as autonomously.

Qualifications

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Strong software engineering skills/background and understanding of software design principles
  • Solid knowledge of Perl programming required
  • Good knowledge and experience of SQL DBs required
  • Good communication skills (English must be at minimum business level)
  • Willingness to learn and pick-up new technologies
  • Customer orientation with a strong ability to solve technical issues
  • Candidates with EU citizenship will be given priority
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field

Other beneficial skills/experience:

  • Working knowledge of C/C++ and Java is beneficial
  • Strong Linux skills - must be able to diagnose and repair problems
  • Understanding of mobile network system architecture
  • Experience with large-scale systems (multi-TB databases, processing of large amounts of data)
