The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

Role Description

We are looking for a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join our new group led by Prof. Anna Roca (

). A primary role of the candidate will be the coordination of different aspects of ongoing multi-national studies. In addition, it is expected that the candidate will conduct secondary analysis on data already collected as part of clinical trials and epidemiological studies conducted in low-and-middle-income-countries as well as publicly available data. It is expected that the candidate will apply for fellowships during the course of this postdoctoral opportunity. S/he will write peer review manuscripts with the data generated and will work towards decreasing transmission of infectious disease to decrease neonatal and child mortality in the study areas.

Qualifications

  • PhD in statistics, epidemiology, global health or related disciplines (with strong statistical skills required)
  • Peer review publications (at least two as first author).

Skills

  • Experience in implementing or conducting research in LMIC
  • Experience in processing and managing of complex and large datasets, as well as in statistical packages, preferably R and STATA
  • Motivated researcher capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering research outputs to the required standard
  • Strong organization and team-working skills
  • Professional attitude with attention to details
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Team player, yet capable of working autonomously, rational and critical thinker
