The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a comprehensive cancer research center dedicated to conduct research and drive innovation in the epidemiological, preventive, clinical, translational, and basic aspects of leukaemia and other hematologic malignancies, with the final aim of finding a cure for these diseases. It was created in 2010, and since then has experienced an exponential growth.

The IJC is also part of the network of Excellence Research Centers of Catalonia (CERCA) and was accredited as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities in 2024. Since 2018, the Institute has also been accredited by the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (FCAECC) Additionally, IJC is one of the centers integrated into the Institut de Recerca Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) accreditation as Accredited Health Research Institute (IIS) by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII).

The IJC's main headquarters is located within the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, alongside other leading biomedical institutions, providing direct access to cutting-edge scientific and technological facilities, as well as complementary community services. The IJC has six locations integrated into reference hospitals: Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Hospital Clínic, Hospital Sant Pau, Hospital Josep Trueta, Hospital del Mar and Hospital San Joan de Déu. This facilitates close collaboration between basic and clinical researchers, fostering translational research that integrates basic science with clinical practice in clinical settings.

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research for the Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) group, led by Dr. Francesc Sole.

RESEARCH DESCRIPTION

The MDS Group (IJC), seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join translational projects focused on the cellular and molecular characterization of myeloid neoplasms and clonal hematopoiesis, aiming to uncover pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities.

Working in a multidisciplinary environment of excellence, the selected candidate will contribute to ongoing projects such as:

• Decoding Multi-Lineage Evolutionary Trajectories in Patients under Adoptive Cell Therapies
• Immunological and Functional Characterization of Clonal Hematopoiesis in Thrombosis
• Reprogramming MYC in High-Risk Myeloid Neoplasms

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

• Design, execution, and analysis of experiments using cellular and murine models of myeloid neoplasms.
• Integration, analysis, and interpretation of omics datasets in translational research.
• Supervision and mentorship of students and technical staff.
• Collaboration with clinical and basic investigators within IDIBAPS, IJC, and partner institutions.
• Contribution to scientific manuscripts, reports, and grant applications.

WHAT WE NEED

• PhD in Medicine, Biomedicine, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related disciplines.
• Proven experience in translational or clinical research, preferably in hematology, oncology, or immunology.
• Hands-on expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques (cell culture, PCR, NGS, Western blot, flow cytometry, lentiviral transduction, CRISPR, pharmacological and proteomic assays).
• Experience with animal experimentation (functions A–D certification).
• Background in bioinformatics and multi-omics data analysis (WES/WGS/scRNA-seq/Tapestri) is highly desirable.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and participation in competitive research projects.
• High scientific rigor and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative attitude in multidisciplinary settings.
• Proficiency in data analysis (genomic, transcriptomic, epigenomic).
• Ability to handle varying workloads and work effectively in a team.
• Excellent written and spoken scientific English.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills.
• Organizational skills, proactivity, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
