Consultancy working with a leading insurance end client

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled
Lead Java Developer
to join a dynamic consultancy team working on innovative insurance solutions. This is a unique opportunity to lead development efforts, contribute to technical strategy, and work closely with both the consultancy and their end client. The role offers flexibility with hybrid working and potential to transition into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design, development, and delivery of Java-based applications within the insurance domain.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, promoting best practices and efficient coding standards.
  • Collaborate with the consultancy and client teams to define technical solutions and requirements.
  • Work on core platforms including
    Gosu
    and
    Guidewire
    , supporting both development and integration.
  • Ensure high-quality code through testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Provide technical input into project planning, estimations, and risk assessments.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in
    Java development
    , ideally in enterprise or insurance-related projects.
  • Familiarity or willingness to work with
    Gosu
    and
    Guidewire
    .
  • Experience leading development teams or acting as a technical lead.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills in
    English
    ; Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work
    onsite in Madrid 2–4 times per month
    .
  • Comfortable working on a
    B2B contract
    with a 12-month rolling term.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in insurance or financial services projects.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
