Job Summary:

As the President, ProMedica Physician Group, you build and maintain a high-performing, cohesive medical group focused on clinical excellence, patient-centered care, financial performance and continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to coordinate and ensure accountability for quality-of-care delivery across ProMedica Physicians. As the leader, you will create a high-performing and highly attractive practice environment for physicians, advanced practice providers and staff.

In this leadership role, you will work with Acute Care leaders, Service Line executive leaders and executive medical directors to coordinate strategies and commit to a culture that supports physicians and fosters their professional development.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Incorporates & demonstrates ProMedica's Values & Vision in behaviors, practices & decisions.
  • Directs, implements, and maintains strategic planning for areas of responsibility aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the system. Is a key participant in ProMedica's strategic planning and goal setting processes for Acute Care, PPG, and the system.
  • Provides strategic and visionary input to transform the care delivery model, creating a standardized, evidence-based approach to patient care and a more consistent patient experience through the enhancement of clinical integration and care coordination across all clinic sites.
  • Oversees and is responsible for the implementation of the strategic plan in partnership with Acute Care Leadership, Medical Staff, PPG providers, and ambulatory practice sites throughout PPG.
  • Ensures PPG has an operating structure that enables achievement of targeted, efficient, and effective performance in all aspects of financial, quality, safety, patient/team member experience and affordability, including effectiveness metrics for physician leaders in PPG's clinical practices and its ambulatory sites.
  • Manages all aspects of PPG, including resources necessary to meet clinical, quality, financial, strategic, and operational targets; monitors and evaluates progress of these targets, including regular report outs in meetings, and in achieving overall efficiency and effectiveness of care delivery; implements modifications in resource allocation, as necessary.
  • Fosters an environment in which physicians and other providers are fully engaged and valued, and issues of wellness are proactively addressed.
  • Has broad accountability for achieving PPG's targeted metrics, inclusive of metrics for financial success; patient satisfaction; access; physician, provider, and employee engagement; quality/safety; primary care membership growth.
  • Oversees the development of the PPG workforce plan and supports the due diligence process for, acquisition, divestiture, partnership opportunities, and other alignment strategies as set forth in the strategic plan.
  • Develops annual operating and capital budgets for PPG and holds ultimate accountability for managing the PPG budget throughout the year to mitigate variances via appropriate cost-control programs, policies, and practices.
  • Within PPG, identifies and develops physician leaders in each service area to drive innovation and care delivery model transformation.
  • Works collaboratively with the PPG Executive Team to manage the fiscal oversight of allocated resources to optimize return on investment for service initiatives.
  • Continually assesses the PPG governance and operating structure and recommends approaches deemed necessary to effectively organize and operationalize key strategic activities.
  • Represents PPG with key affiliates in forums including committees, boards, and community activities.
  • Assures that all new initiatives are thoroughly evaluated, analyzed, properly organized and consistent with the PPG growth plan.
  • Oversees fiscal management activities, growth initiatives, and the linkage of financial plans with business strategies.
  • Represents PPG in external contract negotiations, as applicable.
  • Works with the system Executive Team to ensure adequate, on-going, and open communication with providers, managers, and stakeholders regarding PPG performance.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with key system leaders crucial to the organization's success.
  • Supports and enhances Population Health initiatives, including the development of ACO strategies, risk stratification, understanding social determinants of health, wellness and preventive care, access to behavioral health, chronic care management, palliative care, and team-based care.
  • Monitors PPG continuous performance improvement on clinical, financial, service, access, and managed care standards. Works with PPG physician and executive leadership to forward appropriate interventions to improve and achieve benchmark performance in line with the system's strategic, financial, and operational goals.
  • Promotes and partners with other executive leaders, develops and implements innovative technologies and innovations with applications, including the use of AI/Generative AI and associated technology enhancements across clinical and patient experience domains to achieve strategic goals.
  • Works collaboratively with the CMIO to ensure optimization of use of the EHR by physicians, APPs, and staff of PPG.
  • Enhances physician and provider knowledge of available clinical services and actively works to coordinate and enhance ease of access throughout PPG and the organization through optimization of patient care and services.
  • Partners with other leaders in the development and implementation of business strategies that promote acquisition, affiliation, and/or integration opportunities with other provider groups.
  • Responsible for negotiation and approval of PPG's physician employment contracts and compensation models, in partnership with the CMO and the Chief Legal Officer.
  • Provides the leadership necessary to ensure PPG is consistently meeting all regulatory requirements, working with the CMO to ensure that PPG and related physicians are in full compliance with all applicable regulatory agency rules and regulations to include but not limited to CMS's Conditions of Participation, all Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations, Joint Commission, Ohio and Michigan Departments of Health, OSHA, and Ohio/Michigan Medical Associations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in health care administration, business administration or related health care field or a bachelor's degree with commensurate years of leadership experience related to multispecialty practice management.
  • Analytical, organizational, interpersonal, communication and leadership skills necessary to collaborate with cross-functional leadership and ensure the effective delivery of clinical and anatomic laboratory services and courier services. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead large groups of staff within a health system. Excellent time/project management skills and demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts of peers and other laboratory, nursing, administrative and medical staffs. Awareness of emerging trends and technologies in laboratory medicine, as well as changes in reimbursement and healthcare policy. Demonstrated success in collaborating with and engaging pathologists.
  • 7 -10 years of progressive executive healthcare leadership experience, including progressive leadership responsibilities in the healthcare industry, inclusive of experience in multispecialty medical groups and integrated healthcare delivery systems/hospital systems.
