**Senior Data Engineer – Freelance (€400/day) | Fully Remote

Empotech is working with one of the world's largest global organizations, currently at the start of a large-scale 3–5 year digital transformation journey built from scratch.

The organization already has 50 active use cases as part of this transformation and is rapidly scaling its data and AI platforms. We are now seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer (Freelance) to support this initiative.

Role Overview

You will act as a senior individual contributor within the data engineering function, helping to design, build, and scale end-to-end data solutions on Azure Databricks, while working closely with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities


• Design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and data platforms


• Deliver end-to-end Azure Databricks solutions


• Work extensively with Apache Spark and Unity Catalog


• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data workloads


•
Contribute to GenAI and AI initiatives, including Databricks capabilities such as Genie


• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions through strong stakeholder engagement


• Support multiple high-impact use cases within the digital transformation program

**Required Skills & Experience


• Strong hands-on Data Engineering e

xperience


• Deep expertise in Databricks (Azure-focused)


• Solid experience with Spark and Unity Catalog


• Proven CI/CD experience in data engineering environments


• GenAI / AI experience highly beneficial


• Excellent communication skills with senior business stakeholders

**Contract Details


• Freelance / Contract position


• Rate: €400 per day


• Fully remote


• Long-term engagement within a multi-year transformation program
