Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager - Patient Centric Technology

Alira Health is an international advisory and technology company dedicated to transforming healthcare. Our Patient Centric Technology (PCT) division builds digital platforms that enable patient engagement and real-world data collection in clinical and post-market settings.
We develop web and mobile solutions for both patients and healthcare professionals, supported by a robust backend platform and regulatory-grade data infrastructure.
Position Overview
You will be responsible for technical leadership, people management, and delivery excellence. You’ll work closely with Product, QA, and DevOps to ensure high-quality, secure, and scalable solutions are delivered in accordance with our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow a cross-functional team of backend and frontend developers.
- Drive technical architecture, implementation strategy, and code quality across the stack (web, mobile, backend).
- Oversee project execution, sprint planning, and continuous delivery within a regulated SDLC.
- Promote engineering best practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and secure coding.
- Collaborate with product managers and QA leads to align technical execution with business priorities.
- Guide the team through architectural decisions, especially within a Django-based backend.
- Contribute hands-on when needed, particularly in complex backend or full-stack scenarios.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management of engineering team members.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including full-stack development.
- Proven experience managing or leading engineering teams.
- Expert knowledge of Python/Django in production environments.
- Strong understanding of backend systems, REST APIs, data models, and security.
- Experience working within regulated environments (e.g. healthcare, life sciences, finance).
- Familiarity with formal SDLC practices and documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior entrepreneurial experience or experience in a startup environment.
- Exposure to healthcare data privacy standards (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and modern DevOps workflows.
- Familiarity with FHIR, CDISC, or other healthcare data formats.
