Our client is the world's largest hedge fund, which serves institutional clients like pension funds, foreign governments, and central banks.

The project and product

The goal of this project is to develop a cutting-edge investment analytics platform to allow macro economists and investment analysts to conduct their research and modelling. Our platform is hardware-accelerated, flexible, collaborative, interactive, and ultra-responsive. Using our product, the analysts and untrained domain experts, who are used to working with Excel, should feel right at home, while still being able to manipulate Big Data and produce governable, sustainable models that can fit into data pipelines.

Our backend developers are solving challenging tasks related to the language design, the automatization of queries, the optimization of distributed calculations, the correct utilization of the cloud infrastructure, low-level code optimization, the optimal storage of bitemporal data, protocols for online collaboration with the DSL, etc.

The EPAM team's size is currently 20+ people and looking to grow much larger (more than double the current size by the end of the year and rapid growth in future years). The client’s management (Architects and Technical Leads) are in the US and the EPAM dev team is mainly in Europe.

We're looking for a Senior/Lead/Chief Developer who will meet the requirements below.

**Requirements**:

- 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience in a relevant role with strong computer science fundamentals
- Deep experience with Spark and open systems
- Rich understanding of Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDD) and multithreading computer architecture knowledge - deadlocks, concurrency control, schedulers, etc
- Deep experience with SQL and understanding of database internals
- Distributed systems - RPC, naming servers, distributed transaction processing, etc
- Experience in leading small development teams
- From personal skills perspective:

- Self-driven
- Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changes on the project
- Comfortable with ambiguous requirements
- Ability to communicate/present/defend ideas
