From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, TED is focused on transforming new technologies from early concept to product by iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences these technologies enable.The Depth HW team within TED develops high-performance depth solutions for RL's AR/VR products. This multidisciplinary group brings research to life by realizing state of the art custom modules including ASIC, lasers, optics, sensors, firmware etc.Depth HW team is looking for an optical Engineer to focus on end-to-end ownership of developing and bringing up to mass production cutting edge optical component. Including refractive, diffractive and metasurfaces.

**Optical Engineer Responsibilities**:

- Develop and design cutting edge Diffractive Optical Elements (DOE) and Metalenses
- Source, qualify and drive appropriate suppliers for optics development and delivery for mass production and R&D
- Perform measurements and analysis of the test data to resolve cross-functional problems

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- BSC in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years experience working in the industry of optical sensing and camera technology. Experience related to diffractive and/or refractive optical design.
- Fundamental understanding of optical testing and optical technology, including building hardware for R&D and production in volume.
- Experience working with statistical analysis, data visualization and measurement system analysis tools such as Matlab, JMP and Python.
- Experience working with optical designing tool such Zemax, CodeV and VirtualLad
- Effective communication skills in English.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- MSC or PHD in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge of production process controls and process capability.
- Knowledge of standard procedures in creating SOWs, delivery and support of the test equipment at contract manufacturers.
- Experience working with equipment suppliers and managing contract manufacturing vendors offshore.
- Test optical modules and components, manage test data and results, report and present outcomes
