The role: This person will effectively manage Clinical Project Managers, ensuring high performance, quality delivery of client objectives and continuous development. **Scope of the role**: At ICON you work as a **Senior **Manager Project Management** within a matrix organizational structure and, together with the project management team, you ensure that the projects are carried out according to the agreements regarding timelines, quality and budget. As a People Manager you ensure that the clinical Project Managers get the best out of themselves every day and that the team functions optimally. In addition, you are responsible for internal and external customer satisfaction. As a Senior Manager Project Management you are responsible for a team of Project Managers and PM support employees of15-20 FTE. **Job summary**: - Responsible for the overall direction and management of projects through designated project managers, ensuring consistency with corporate strategy, consistency of processes across projects and internal and external customer satisfaction. - Directs and provides day-to-day oversight to the Project Managers. - Provides vision to the department and overall lab organization. - Accountable for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of all assigned projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals - Acts as a Project Manager/Study Directors is bioanalytical studies and serves as backup for Project Managers of the department. - Recognize, exemplify and adhere to ICON's values which center around our commitment to People, Clients and Performance. - Manage projects in accordance with the contract, agreed scope of work and in adherence with ICON SOPs, GLP and appropriate regulations, while liaising with other department managers as necessary to achieve this. - Manage a portfolio consisting of high complexity projects and the overall process of planning, scheduling and controlling the project from initiation to project closeout to ensure timely completion of the project in a manner that is consistent with the Project Management role. - Lead or participate in initiatives related to the development or implementation of cross functional and departmental continuous improvement initiatives as it relates to standards, training and quality and maintain integrated processes within Project Management. - Build and maintain the performance and effectiveness of project management and the project teams, including regular checks on team health and identification and resolution (including escalation to the appropriate level) of team performance issues - Facilitate strategic planning and risk assessment, by managing the development and delivery of appropriate contingency activities in the context of the budget, time, resources and value targets and in accordance with SOPs - Establish and maintain a "sense of urgency" within areas of responsibility to assure rapid, in-depth evaluation and, where appropriate, development of internal and external opportunities while not sacrificing scientific excellence, quality/compliance or agreed upon timelines. **Job Requirements**: - Master of Science or PhD degree - Strong background in Project Management/Leadership in a regulatory environment (a.o. GLP, GCP, FDA, EMA) - Extended experience with management of professionals within Clinical research (hiring, coaching, motivating, providing feedback and recognition) - Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant industry experience, experience in clinical project management and line management. - Proven ability to identify, analyze and tackle problems. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational and management skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and local language - Positive, pro-active and problem-solving attitude Benefits of Working in ICON: Our success depends on the quality of our people.
