Data Engineer

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Build a data platform to enable other teams to self service high quality data while per-forming data operations to support their day to day actions.
- Understand the full lifecycle of the data process, including:

- Understanding of business needs
- Data extraction and preparation
- Data exploration, machine learning methods, statistics, graph theory
- Visualization & cost-benefit evaluation of the deployment
- Develop APIs to consume and ingest data.
- Designing and building our ETL's
- Transform raw data from different sources into intuitive data models, using a diverse set of tools to build robust data pipelines of high quality in a scalable fashion (regarding volume and maintainability)
- Collaborate with providers and stakeholders in the definition of processes to extract and transform big volumes of data
- Support and maintain the different components in production related to data and analytics
- Quality Assurance of the data as it comes into and out of our systems. Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with the security team to ensure governance compliance
- Work closely with Platform, Data Science and Engineering teams, as well as product and tech teams.

**Qualifications**
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer/Data Engineer,
- Degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineer, Math, Physics, etc )
- Have built production data pipelines in the cloud, setting up data-lake and server-less solutions; on top of that, you have hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling
- Proven knowledge of Python is required, R/Julia will be a plus Provided for reference only
- Always consult current legislation in your jurisdiction to create policies and procedures for your organization
- Strong SQL skills and knowledge and familiarity with other distributed data stores such as Redis, ElasticSearch, Druid, Cassandra, Hbase
- Comfortable working in containerized cloud developments, and familiar with the integration of public and private APIs
- Familiarity with big data tools and stream-processing systems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc)
- Open to try new technologies and programming languages
- Fluency in English, (Spanish is a plus)
- EU/Spanish Work permit

- Experience in Banking, Finance, Insurance, or similar highly regulated markets.

**Location**
- Based in Spain (remote position).
- Occasional travel to: Madrid (Spain), San Francisco (USA).
