Senior Staff Communication Systems Engineer

**Responsibilities**:MaxLinear is seeking a Senior Staff Communications Systems Engineer to join our experienced team in the Valencia design center. We are a team of world-class communications systems engineers designing advanced broadband communication SOCs. These chips integrate complete PHY and MAC layers (including broadband RF/analog circuits, digital ASIC, and CPU subsystems) on a single die, and are being designed in deep-submicron CMOS processes for use in next-generation wireless, optical, and wireline systems. Your responsibilities will include:

- Design, verification and test of MAC, Scheduling, resource allocation and cross-layer PHY-MAC algorithms for broadband communication SOCs
- Modelling and performance optimization of Scheduling and cross-layer PHY-MAC algorithms using Network Simulation tools (i.e NS-3)
- Matching and aligning the models to the real HW/SW implementation
- Definition, specification and test of the HW/SW partitioning of Control and Data Path blocks
- Collaboration with the ASIC Design and Firmware engineering teams to ensure the correct implementation

**Qualifications**:

- Possess a great understanding of communications systems and their cross-layer PHY/DSP and Medium Access Control (MAC) interactions
- Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering Masters degree. PhD is an asset
- Ability to work closely within cross-functional teams consisting of Communications Systems Engineers, ASIC and SW
- Experience in MATLAB, C/C++ and Python. SystemC knowledge is a plus
- Experience in event-driven Network Simulation tools like NS-3 or OMNET++ is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and good mathematical background
- Knowledge of WiFi IEEE Standards and/or experience in DSP design for Communications is a plus
