**THE ROLE**

Location**:Madrid (Hybrid)**

Based in Madrid and reporting to the Head Corporate Affairs GDF&E, this role is responsible for managing all legal matters for the Cluster GDF&E, Travel Retail and Rizla.

This role delivers legal advice for a number of internal stakeholders such as sales teams, as well as central functions, i.e., PPM and Marketing.

**The role will lead on all legal work streams of the Cluster**:

- Manage commercial agreements in line with requirements of the business and in alignment with Regional / Group functions where required
- Provide guidance on marketing and advertisement concepts
- Provide brand and product regulatory advice and translate regulatory advice into risk assessments to inform planning for launches and / or marketing concepts.
- Guidance on product and ingredients restrictions and provide guidance, in alignment with relevant Group expert functions.
- Translate packaging & labelling requirements into implementation guidelines for the business and advice central teams on the implementation.
- Advice on any other legal or regulatory matter arising.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Become the lead and main point of contact within Cluster regarding all legal matters (agreements, disputes, regulatory risk assessments, price communications etc.)
- Take responsibility for the global business of GDF&E, Rizla and Travel retail and develop close working relationships with internal (domestic Cluster CLA, GDF PPM, Group Legal) and external stakeholders (law firms, associations, other stakeholders)
- Advice on product registrations in close alignment with relevant internal expert functions
- Draft & Review customer agreements, work with Sales Manager to execute them and maintain them centrally. Regularly review templates to ensure they meet latest requirements of the Group
- Deliver legal advice for Cluster Corporate Affairs team to support the work of the department and act as a legal counsel to the Cluster CLT as and when requested.
- Management of external legal support as and when required.

**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**

**Essential**:

- Fluent in English - both spoken and written
- Degree in (business) law or related fields
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in industry, as a legal counsel or consultancy experience in regulatory compliance in tobacco or similar highly regulated industry. Tobacco and Duty-Free experience a plus.
- Familiarity working in a **multi-national business environment, **including a good practical understanding of financial, commercial, and regulatory procedures
- Strong drive and commitment to achieve results
- Positive mind-set paired with strong influencing, partnering and communication skills
- Solid proven negotiation skills
- Ability to work detail-oriented to ensure that requirements are fully understood before decision are made
- Ability to communicate at various levels of the organisation as well as with external stakeholders
- Advanced Presentation skills and advanced Excel, PowerPoint skills.

**Desirable**:

- Desirable experience in duty free channel and / or tobacco
- Cross-cultural understanding
- Ability to derive adequate scenarios if decision needs to be made under ambiguity
- Familiarity working in a multi-national business environment, including a good practical
- understanding of financial, commercial, and regulatory procedures
- Ability to travel (internationally) from time to time as required
- Other European languages would be advantageous.
