Fontenebro International School in Moralzarzal (Madrid) is part of the International Schools Partnership group, a leading global educational organization with 88 schools in 24 countries and over 85,000 students. We are seeking a Primary English teacher (maternity cover).

Purpose of Role

  • Be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in their class ensuring equality of opportunity for all

ISP Primary Teacher Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programs and planning.
  • Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of pupils’ you teach.
  • Be aware of pupils’ capabilities, their prior knowledge and plan teaching and differentiate appropriately to build on this demonstrating knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn.
  • Have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; gifted and talented; EAL; disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy including the correct use of spoken English.
  • If teaching early reading, demonstrate a clear understanding of appropriate teaching strategies e.g. systematic synthetic phonics.
  • Use an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a basis for setting challenging learning objectives for pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions, monitoring learners’ progress and levels of attainment.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessment to secure pupils’ progress.
  • Give pupils regular feedback, both orally and through accurate marking, and encourage pupils to respond to the feedback, reflect on progress, their emerging needs and to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.
  • Use relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan subsequent lessons.
  • Participate in arrangements for examinations and assessments.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Good organizational skills to plan the day and respond to the different needs of the children you teach.
  • The ability to inspire and enthuse young children.
  • Energy, resourcefulness, responsibility, patience, and a caring nature
  • An understanding of the needs and feelings of children
  • Ability to work independently with children, as well as being able to work in the wider Early Years/school team.
  • A sense of humor and the ability to keep things in perspective.
  • Experience and a solid understanding of the Spanish Curriculum
  • A demonstrable knowledge of children's development, their needs, and the provision of positive play
  • Satisfactory DBS and reference checks
  • Qualifications needed: Degree in Hispanic Philology and Master's degree in Teacher Training for Primary School, Vocational Training and Language Teaching
  • Teaching experience, at least two years
