Role Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager and working as part of the overall Facilities Team, the Building Operations Engineer (BOE) will manage a range of hard services and provide the necessary support to ensure the efficient and effective running of the site.

What this job involves

Delivery of all engineering aspects of the contract, including mechanical and electrical systems, building infrastructure and critical environments, with delivery to client satisfaction and in accordance with agreed SLAs and performance standards.

Ensuring all sub-ordinate staff receive the appropriate training for their posts and are suitably qualified for their roles and responsibilities, including authorised and competent person for permit control.

Implementation of safe systems of work, including permit controls, risk assessments and method statements.

Ensure all relevant logbooks are in place for all sites in scope and are maintained to current legislation, including records of maintenance, repairs and regulatory inspections.

Maintain a library of current standard and emergency operating procedures for defined equipment, systems and critical environments and ensure relevant staff are suitably trained to implement the procedures.

Manage and monitor all aspects of maintenance delivery, including planning and completion of reactive tasks, planned tasks and regulatory inspections and associated remedial works.

Provide performance reporting for all engineering activities, particularly maintenance and regulatory performance and ensure delivery achieves agreed SLAs.

Manage, audit (and improve as necessary) all engineering related vendors for the contract, including ongoing performance reviews, delivery of performance and/or cost improvements as agreed and annual reviews.

Undertake asset verification and condition assessments as necessary and build a forward works plan based on, but not limited to, asset condition assessments, changes in asset register, remedial works identified, safety related assessments and forward site, systems and client operations planning.

Management of any small works/moves and changes in relation to the contract, including planning and programme, budgets, pricing, design management, vendor tendering and installation management.

Programming and management of all mechanical and electrical related testing and commissioning

Deputise / provide cover for Office Services Coordinator / Facilities Manager when appropriate.

All other tasks and duties as assigned.

**Required Skills and Experience**

ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification (degree preferred) in an engineering discipline.

Minimum 5 years in the engineering industry

Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role

Minimum 5 years of experience of vendor and team management

In depth knowledge of M&E principles and services delivery.

In-depth knowledge of managerial, administrative and contracts procedures.

Excellent people skills.

Good level of English.

Ability to lead a team of multi-disciplined staff.

Experience of continuous improvement.

Working knowledge of CMMS systems.

Knowledge of industry and country-specific regulatory requirements.

An individual who can demonstrate a technical understanding of system processes, who will promote consistency in delivery.

An ability to collate data and differentiate between critical tasks, review frequencies in the light of trend analysis.

An individual who will pursue high standards, recognise improvement opportunities and learn from experience.
