Chevron Renewable Energy Group seeks bright, high-energy attorney with a solid base of experience for Senior Corporate Counsel position reporting to the General Counsel for the leading U.S. biomass-based diesel company.
This position is responsible for completing, directing, coordinating and supervising legal activities of major importance to the company’s long-term future. This person will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts, identifying and resolving complex business issues and identifying legal risks, advising on regulatory and trade matters, international business activities, and be actively engaged in the Company’s business development activities.
These activities are typically highly confidential, may be enterprise-wide in scope and involve frequent interaction with both internal and external parties including renewable energy group’s Senior Leadership Team, renewable energy group’s technical, manufacturing and operational staff, external C-level management, outside legal counsel and others.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Manage a wide variety of corporate trade matters, contract review and negotiation, document management and other legal activities with accountability for meeting timelines, budgets and project objectives.- Analyze legal contracts, conduct diligence investigations, report and communicate on legal matters to management and other parties.-
- Maintain cross-organizational relationships with key personnel to align departmental efforts and priorities with overall company objectives.- Cultivate a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment across departments.- Identify and evaluate legal issues, design execution plans and bring projects to closure. Communicate effectively with others throughout this process to ensure alignment with company objectives and the availability of required resources.- Advise the company on legal risks, business strategy and other issues related to commercial transactions, international business and general corporate matters- Encourage, support, and develop employee skills and knowledge through your provision of legal services.- May include travel in support of business opportunities or other legal matters, including visit to partners or prospective partners, including international travel.
Required Qualifications:
- Law degree- Minimum 10 years´ legal experience in a general corporate or related practice, preferably with strong background in contracts, complex transactions, commodity trading, and international law.- Admission to the bar in the United States.- Demonstrated experience with large, complex legal matters.- Proficient use of all MS Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and other office automation tools as needed.- Strong legal analysis, synthesis and communication (oral and written) skills.- Decision-making, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills with superior attention to detail.- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor especially during demanding situations and engage others in a productive manner.- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to design, create, implement, track and report on work via project management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the biofuels, energy, commodity trading (e.g., oil seeds) or agricultural industries- Experience at top-tier law firm and/or as company in house counsel

Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
