Overview of the role

We are seeking a highly motivated, commercial and analytical individual to join our dynamic Trading team as a Junior Trader. In this role, you will gain valuable experience in the green coffee market with a focus on the physical green coffee business, while assisting senior traders with daily trading activities, market research and monitoring market conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a few years of experience, who is looking to launch a career in the fast-paced and challenging world of coffee trading.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Execution:

- Shadow senior traders on the trading floor, learning best practices and trading techniques, assisting in the execution of trades across various financial instruments, including equities, commodities, derivatives and currencies.
- Learn basic principles of derivatives and hedging.
- Ensure accurate and timely trade settlements.
- Monitor and reconcile trading positions and accounts.
- Support the Quality Department to receive, analyse, screen, roast and cup green coffee.
- Know position, price, whereabouts, reference and details of company stocks.

Market Analysis:

- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities.
- Monitor market trends, news, and economic indicators.
- Assist in the preparation of market reports and presentations summarizing market activity and performance.

Risk Management:

- Support the senior traders in identifying and managing trading risks.
- Ensure compliance with risk management policies and procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Strategy Development:

- Collaborate with senior traders to develop and refine trading strategies.
- Back-test trading strategies using historical data.
- Provide input on potential improvements and new trading ideas.

Client Interaction:

- Assist in managing client relationships by providing market insights, updates, providing sample, purchase, documentation and dispatch information.
- Respond to client inquiries and support their trading activities.
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction through professional and timely communication.
- Develop strong client relationships and gain exposure to the commercial side of the business.

Continuous Learning:

- Stay updated with industry trends, new trading technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Perform other duties as assigned.

**Profile**:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Some working knowledge of financial markets and trading concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with trading platforms and software (a plus).
- Knowledge of the commodity business (a plus)
- Spanish and English fluent, Portuguese (a plus).
