The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) brings together governments, civil society organisations, Indigenous Peoples’ organisations, scientists, and experts in a unique global partnership. The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN Med), based in Málaga (Spain), leads the implementation of IUCN’s programmes in the Mediterranean and North Africa, supporting conservation action, sustainable development, and civil society engagement across the region.
IUCN Med is establishing a new project office in Tunisia to reinforce national-level implementation of ongoing and upcoming initiatives, including the Mubadarat civil society support programme and projects focused on water, biodiversity, climate resilience projects, and collaboration with national and local institutions.
Tunisia is a strategic country for IUCN’s engagement in North Africa. The new office will focus primarily on national project delivery, while enhancing coordination with government authorities and enabling closer collaboration with local civil society organisations (CSOs). Regional cooperation may also be supported when relevant, but the core mandate of the office is to advance country-level implementation.

The National Coordinator will coordinate IUCN’s work in Tunisia with civil society organisations and IUCN Members, serve as the national coordinator of the Mubadarat Programme and its related projects (at the moment, PPI OSCAN and TransCap), and contribute to their regional implementation.
