**ROLE SUMMARY**:
The British School of Madrid is seeking an exceptional **Teaching & Learning Leader (TLL)** for the **Modern Foreign Languages** department in Secondary. The TLL will drive academic excellence, lead a motivated team of MFL teachers, and ensure alignment with the school’s Responsive Action Plans (RAPs). The role focuses on raising academic and pastoral standards, supporting high-quality teaching, and helping every student reach their full potential.-
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Lead the MFL team to deliver an ambitious, high-quality curriculum across Key Stages.-
-Manage assessment practices that promote progress and high achievement.-Develop and refine the MFL curriculum in line with school priorities.-Support staff performance management and identify professional development needs.-Work with Year Leaders to align academic and pastoral targets.-Showcase student achievements through events, publications and digital platforms.-Promote and implement the school’s digital learning strategy within the department-Contribute to whole-school improvement and maintain high BSO inspection standards-
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**:
Minimum 3 years of recent, relevant teaching experience across at least two Key Stages in a UK, international or bilingual school following the English National Curriculum.-Demonstrated leadership experience in a T&L area, department, or pastoral middle-leadership role.-Recent professional development in Teaching & Learning.-
-Proficiency in at least one MFL at **C2** level and English at **minimum B2** (or willingness to achieve B2 within one year, with school support).-Strong ability to motivate teams, raise academic standards and lead strategic improvement.-
