**Neurodegenerative Diseases Group**
The Neurodegenerative Diseases Group is a translational multidisciplinary research team that collaborates in research
activities and the development of new drugs through participation in clinical trials phases II, III and IV, and clinical
research projects to improve the quality of life of patients with Parkinson´s Disease and other Movement Disorders
The research conducted in our group is geared toward identifying genetic risk, elucidating the molecular mechanisms of
neuron cell death occurring in Parkinson's disease (PD), a common neurodegenerative disorder, in order to develop
new therapeutic strategies aimed at blocking neuronal dysfunction/degeneration in this disabling, currently incurable
The **Neurodegenerative Diseases Group **at Vall d'Hebron Hospital wants to incorporate to its team a Bioinformatician
in **Neurodegenerative Disease´s** to give support on research tasks.***

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required: -**
Graduated in Biology, Biochemistry,Computer Engineering, Biomedical Sciences
- Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
- Organized and methodical person with high motivation and initiative.
- Interest in translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases
**Preferred: -**
Papers, articles, abstract submissions to national or international congresses or impact factor journals will be
highly evaluated.

**Experience and knowledge: -**
Experience in the processing and analysis of high-throughput experiments of NGS data
- Knowledge in advanced statistical analysis, multi-omic data analysis and use of statistical software (R, Stata,
SPSS )
- NGS data analysis filtering and selection of variants and analysis of variants pathogenicity.
- Manage and maintenance of databases.
**Main responsibilities and duties: -**
Give support to the clinical and basic research team in active Research Projects, mainly VHIP cohort.
- Biosamples collection and management
- Stratification of Risk of PD in carriers of mutations linked to PD
- Perform laboratory genetic assays (Illumina genome analyzer)
- Assist the research team in the tasks necessary for the development of studies.
- Write projects in collaboration with the physician and technician teams that might help the improvement of the
quality of life of patients with Neurodegenerative Diseases
**Labour conditions: -**
Full-time position: 40 hours/week.** -**
Starting date: Immediate
- Gross annual salary: 24.785,40 Euros
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
