Legal Counsel

**Responsibilities**:
Key Responsibilities
- Independently handle legal review of agreements from inception to conclusion. Including experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating international commercial contracts in Spanish and English; coordinating with internal business clients to ensure the work product reflects the proposed business relationship; reviewing edits proposed by other contracting parties; negotiating with other parties to arrive at mutually acceptable language; and assisting business clients in finalising documents for signatures.
- Oversee and provide legal support for a variety of departments.
- Provide legal guidance on compliance and regulatory matters.
- Coordinate corporate governance matters complying with Commercial Register filings.
- Ensure compliance with Bank of Spain rules and regulations.
- Coordinate responses to subpoenas and government requests for information and documents.
- Proactively recognize and address potential legal issues as they arise and identifying whether a matter must be assisted by external lawyers.
- Support collections department by drafting civil and criminal lawsuits to recover bad debt.
- Monitor and advise on legal proceedings before the courts, tax authorities and any governmental agencies.
- Provide support on other legal matters such as real property leases, employment matters, vendor agreements, etc.
- Maintain awareness of new regulations and relevant business developments.
- Availability to travel occasionally.
- Qualifications

**Qualifications**:

- Licensed to practice law in Spain and admission to the Spanish Bar. Desirable qualification as lawyer in other jurisdictions.
- Juris Doctor from a Spanish university in Law
- Masters of Law (LLM)
- Fluent in spoken and written English (mandatory) third language is a plus.
- More than 5 years of substantive legal experience working as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm (internships shall not be considered to reach the threshold)
- Ability to work independently
- Establish strong relationships with the legal team and other departments.
- Management of several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure
- Strong problem-resolution skills
- Managing and coordinating the delivery of accurate legal advice and support across multiple areas, readily understandable to non-lawyers where appropriate.
