To meet the needs of our growing pipeline and the external environment, AstraZeneca is investing in a new Centre of Excellence to support our Health Technology Assessment (HTA) efforts around the world. Based in our global Barcelona hub, we have exciting opportunities for skilled and daring statisticians to work with the following therapy areas: Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism; Respiratory & Immunology; and Vaccines & Immune Therapies.

**Accountabilities**
- With the growing use of HTA, including the upcoming Joint Clinical Assessment in Europe, you will play an important role in shaping what we do and the ways of working
- Support market access strategies by providing critical input regarding appropriate statistical approaches to address specific questions of interest for payers and other collaborators
- Independently lead the development of plans to analyze internal or external information in collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Implement, interpret, and present analysis results to a range of cross-functional audiences
- Act as a technical expert in interactions with external suppliers and team members
- Prioritize the ability to think strategically and make informed choices based on quantitative analysis
- Take responsibility for analysis design and results interpretation
- Provide mentoring to more junior staff
- Present at internal forums to increase awareness of statistical methodology

**Essential Skills/Experience**
- Programming expertise in R and/or SAS
- Proven ability to deliver according to strict timelines
- Demonstrated experience from clinical trials (e.g., familiarity with CDISC) or other aspects of pharmaceutical development
- Publication experience and/or experience of presenting at external meetings
- Experience and understanding of health technology assessment and reimbursement process
- Experience of planning and conducting indirect treatment comparison methodology including network meta-analysis and pairwise adjusted indirect comparison approaches following existing guidelines
- Understanding of survival modelling
- Experience of writing and reviewing statistical analysis plans or payer analysis plans
- Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts in an understandable way to colleagues with different areas of expertise
- MSc or PhD or equivalent experience in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Mathematics (with a substantial statistical component)

Desirable Skills/Experience
- Extensive experience from the pharmaceutical industry and market access strategies
- Deeper understanding of health economic models
- Experience from teaching or tutoring statistics or mathematics
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and mentor more junior staff members
