The Role
As a Senior Simulation Engineer, you will have the unique opportunity to join a team of engineers with the purpose of designing, developing and deploying simulations and digital twins for our fulfillment centers in the EU network. These next-generation digital simulations aim to communicate with the physical world in real time, enabling: 1) fully autonomous decision-making processes based on real-time simulation predictive capabilities, and 2) improved process performance consequence of the optimized decision-making.

Key job responsibilities
- Identify process improvements and gather operational business requirements
- Translate operational business requirements into process-flow simulation logic
- Identify, design (and preferably create) data pipelines to feed simulations with input data
- Identify and model parameters and key performance indicators (KPI)
- Run what-if experiments and scenario optimizations
- Code scripts to connect simulations (i.e. FlexSim) with external python algorithms
- Create mechanisms to enable bi-directional data communication (simulation physical world)
- Deploy and host simulations in AWS EC2 to profit from distributed cloud-computing power, always up & running
- Work with cross-functional teams (e.g. Technology, Engineering, Robotics) to enable simulations receive real-time data signals from the physical world
- Create bottom-up plans for forward-looking years and execute to the goals
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

About the team
Amazon is seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer to work in the Process and Systems Engineering (PSE) team. The PSE team is a group of operational leaders driving process innovation, stabilization, standardization and continuous improvement for all the fulfillment centers in EU, especially focusing on Amazon Robotics Sortable FC (Fulfillment Center) Network. This team is essential to establish best in class network performance across all performance paths, accelerate implementation of technology advancements, and to strengthen the technical acumen and process knowledge for the operational leaders across the FC network. As we continue to rapidly grow our FC footprint and infuse the organization with new talent, we need to ensure the Operations teams are equipped with the functional expertise to successfully deliver expected gains for technology advances and network-wide process improvements.

The below qualifications and experiences are a plus for this role: - Knowledge of at least one other EU language (French, German, Polish, Italian or Spanish)

- Demonstrable simulation development experience with FlexSim and OptQuest
- Experience building digital twins
- Ability to construct data pipelines or build SQL queries - Experience with machine learning/reinforcement learning/computer vision
- Experience with statistical-analysis tools (e.g. Minitab) - Experience with cloud-computing and AWS EC2 instances
- Experience with internet of things (IoT) signals
- Experience integrating mechanical handling equipment (MHE) and simulations
- Experience with other simulation software (e.g. AnyLogic) and agent-based simulation techniques
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g. QuickSight)
- Experience in six-sigma & lean projects
