**The Role**:
Shell is looking to hire an HSSE Practitioner to join our Sarnia refinery. In this role, you will support in achieving our Goal Zero plans and help to build a strong culture where everyone is motivated to relentlessly pursue no harm to people. You will provide field-based practitioner expertise on a broad range of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) principles.

**Responsibilities**:

- Complete various work assignments requiring a broad knowledge of HSSE policies and applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Provide coaching and assurance to front-line workers and supervision of on-site HSSE policies within their assigned area
- Develop and implements standardized performance data collection to evaluate processes and management systems to achieve compliance and recommendations for improvements (80% Field coverage)
- Establish relationships in the field as a credible source of advice for HSSE-related matters
- Act as a member of the applicable production team and actively participate in the daily meetings
- Assist in the coaching, mentoring, and implementation of the HSSE programs in the field.
- Complete roles and responsibilities contained within the permit to work process
- Where required approve policy-related documentation on behalf of HSSE. (Confined Space, Rescue plans, & authorizations)
- Assist and conduct Industrial Hygiene & Environmental monitoring request which could include air, water & soil sampling
- Assist frontline supervision with Incident Investigation and reporting
- Provide Subject Matter expertise in pre-job planning for Production and the Execution Teams
- Act as a member of the emergency response team as well rotate on-call rostering duties within the Emergency Operations Centre as the Incident Safety Officer section

**Skills & Requirements**
- Recognized Post-secondary education certificate/ diploma in the HSSE field is preferred
- Knowledge & Understanding of OH&S legislation, Safety Standards, and interpretation
- Computer Skills along with Policy writing (MS Office/SAP/SharePoint)
- Minimum of 3 years in Operations or Trades experience in a refining/ chemical plant environment
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
