The Spanish Marine & Aviation Underwriting Team within AXA XL provide insurance solutions for a diverse portfolio of large and corporate clients globally, spanning a broad range of insurance solutions like:

- Marine Cargo Policies
- Project Cargo Policies
- Freight Forwarders Liability Policies
- Shipper’s Interest Insurance Policies
- General aviation Policies
- Products/Airports liability for aviation Policies

The team offers innovative risk transfer and risk management solutions that meet the needs of today’s local businesses and global players alike by working closely with dedicated loss prevention service units and account management teams.

Responsible for working within authority limits on assignments reflecting the degree of technical skills and coordination under broad management direction. You will work with our Marine & Aviation Underwriters. Key responsibilities will involve:

- Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book and produce new business.
- Analysis and evaluation of risks.
- Negotiate with producers to achieve profit objectives.
- Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and targeted markets.
- Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
- Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
- Identify and drive new product development opportunities.
- All the above adhering to the Rules and Guidelines of AXA XL. Ensuring all underwriting activities are documented on the underwriting systems to the required data quality standards and ensuring metrics meet the standards of the company.

This position will be located in Madrid, Spain, and you will report to the Marine & Aviation Manager in Spain.

You will be working toward building your Underwriting experience, having some of the experience and skills below will help:

- You must have an understanding of the fundamentals of the Insurance industry
- Strong written and verbal communication/negotiation skills.
- Experience demonstrated in marine/cargo Underwriting activities.
- Aviation UW experience will be also valuable.
- Well-developed analytical skills and good mathematical abilities. Ability to reasoning and work through information and reach a reasoned conclusion.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills combined with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers and brokers as well as across the AXA XL and AXA Group enterprise.
- Flexibility: ability to successfully multitask.
- Interpersonal relationships skills

**Qualifications**
- Desired University Degree and knowledge in maritime industry. I.E. Master
- Good knowledge of English is required and would be valuable to have some knowledge in other languages.
- Knowledge of functionality of systems including technical skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
