Value Retail’s Legal Teams in the Village provide legal support to the other teams at the Villages as well as maintaining a strong link with the central Corporate Legal & Finance team. We are seeking a confident, commercially minded, highly motivated and energetic lawyer to fill the key role of Legal Director Village.

In this role you will support the general activities of the Village teams, with specific responsibility for covering the legal aspects the Villages’ businesses including: Leasing/Remerchandising, Brand Compliance, CRM and Data Protection, Marketing, Tourism & Travel, Public Relations, Intellectual Property, Human Resources, Procurement and General Contracts, Banking Compliance, Insurance, Corporate Governance. You will manage and promote the Legal Teams in the Village and work closely with external lawyers. You will be a member of the Village leadership teams, supporting the Business director and helping to define and support existing and future strategic initiatives and programmes for the Village.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Leasing/Remerchandising and Brand Compliance**
- Negotiating and drafting lease agreements and ancillary documentation
- Participate in all Team Leader strategic planning meetings
- Chair Village Compliance Group meetings
- Participate in strategy for brand reorganisation in Villages with leasing and retail teams;
- Preparation of new lease editions, handbooks, etc.;
- Sign-off on all leasing/commercialisation documentation;
- Assist Leasing Team where appropriate with informal relations with brands - especially with compliance issues;
- Preparation of other tenant/brand-related documents, correspondence, etc.;
- Litigation (e.g. insolvency, arrears, disputes etc.);
- Rates appeals, etc.

**Construction and Shop-Fit**
- Liaison with the planning consultants and monitoring of compliance with planning obligations;
- Liaison with the development and construction teams;
- Advice on shop-fit related issues.
- Negotiation and drafting of relevant construction and related contracts.

**Marketing and Tourism Promotion**
- Support to the Village marketing/tourism teams on all aspects of their marketing and tourism arrangements;
- Negotiation and documentation of all contractual arrangements required by these teams;
- Review of all printed and online promotional material and copy and legal sign-off of all marketing-related materials;
- Up-to-date advice on all relevant advertising/marketing standards and codes of practice;
- Negotiation and documentation of agreements with strategic partners;
- Negotiation and drafting of all sponsorship agreements and other forms of arrangements with celebrities and brand ambassadors;
- Drafting of contracts for Village events;
- Responsibility for legal aspects of the Gift Card programme;
- Responsibility for legal aspects of the Shopping Express travel programme;
- Advice on the implementation of the various planned concierge services (for example, VIP parking, bag collection and dog walking services);
- Legal advice on competitions, sweepstakes and contests in the Villages, including drafting of rules, review of advertising, monitoring of the running and handling of claims;
- Support in dealing with guest complaints;
- Support for all marketing, advertising or travel trade related disputes.
