**Who are we?**
We are the **DEUS initiative**, and we are all about exploring AI in the service of humanity. No, we are not calling ourselves gods(), but our name is a reference to ‘deus ex machina’ (or god from the machine in Latin). We believe that artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing will have a massive impact on the way we live, and we want to make sure that we create a positive impact on the world with these AI services.
As a happy coincidence, **DEUS** is also an acronym representing the quadrivium of key disciplines we believe are important to building successful AI-powered services**:D**ata / **E**ngineering / **U**ser-experience design / **S**trategy.
DEUS is a new initiative, but the founders have been working together very successfully for years, so there is a comfortable family feel to the company. We have an amazing set of international client partnerships (and projects/challenges). Our headquarters is located in the heart of the city centre of Amsterdam at the Brouwersgracht. We also have a team in Portugal that is based out of the beautiful city of Porto with an office close to the beach, and our Spanish team is based out of the charming center of A Coruña
**Who are you?**
- You have +5 years of experience in a Data/Software Engineer role, with the appropriate qualifications, mainly in DataBricks, Python and RestAPI.
- You know the ins and outs of CosmoDB, Azure Data Factory, ADLS or others.
- You have advanced working SQL knowledge and working experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- You are a Master performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- You have strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- You are used to build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
- You accumulate a history of successes in manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
- You are used to doing Code Management using GitHub or similar tools.
- The following software/tools have no secrets for you:
- Experience with object-oriented languages: Python, SQL, Scala, Spark-SQL etc.
- ADLS, Azure DevOps, Databricks, Azure Functions, REST API
- Experience with Azure: Data Factory
**Some of the tasks you might be doing in this role**:
- Model simple to complex data sets and measures that help the business gain information from the data sources.
- Work with back end data technologies and storage such as Azure Data Factory, Azure CosmoDB, ADLS, to extract and model the data.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, user access management etc.
- Can foster and mentor others in the team and also express desire to learn other technologies to enable full stack knowledge

- Written and verbal English is the only language requirement.
- Also is a bonus if you are familiar with: React, PowerBI (or other data visualisation tools) and Azure Data Pipeline.
