**Job Description**:
Wood Mackenzie’s Carbon Research team aspires to enable clients across the energy value chain to understand and respond to market and portfolio-related climate risks and opportunities. We are a fast-growing team helping to drive the pace and scale of the energy transition and serving different customer segments with integrated analysis. Some of the services we provide include calculation and benchmarking of emissions across the full value chain of commodities, tracking and forecasting of carbon prices, and research and reporting on carbon markets.

**Role Purpose**

This role will serve as part of Carbon research team, and is global in its nature rather than being focused on a specific region. This is an excellent opportunity to join a strong, global team and make a major contribution to decarbonization and the energy transition at a global scale.

As part of our global Carbon team, you will develop a deep understanding of carbon offsetting and voluntary carbon markets (VCM). You will play an important leading role in the development, expansion, and calibration of our offsetting project economics modelling capabilities. A strong understanding of pricing structures and financial analysis is required for this role.

Importantly, you will also develop your own network with internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams and industry partners. This will be to establish a knowledge base to test assumptions on methodologies, as well as to represent Wood Mackenzie’s research in a high-quality way to customers.

**Main Responsibilities**

We are looking for a Senior Analyst who is expected to:

- Conduct primary research on carbon offsetting and VCM, including credit prices, methodologies, and cash flow structure of carbon offsetting projects.
- Build, update and calibrate financial valuation models across a wide range of offsetting projects.
- Monitor and analyse evolving project costs, business models, revenue structures, as well as VCM-relevant policies and regulations to calibrate and strengthen model accuracy.
- Build a strong relationship with industry stakeholders in the carbon offsetting space.
- Engage with project developers on how projects and markets evolve, understanding how that may influence our analysis.
- Create industry-leading insights and thought leadership pieces to provide clients with a clear understanding of offsetting project valuations qualitatively and quantitatively.
- Develop a deep understanding of the client interest, engage with key client stakeholders and communicate research findings that demonstrate our expertise via various channels such as reports, conferences (calls), webinars and client visits.
- Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker internally and increasingly externally. Represent Wood Mackenzie’s carbon offsetting research and actively develop visibility through press, social media and elsewhere.

**Qualifications**:
**Knowledge and Experience Requirement**
- 5+ years of distinguishing previous experience in carbon management or financial valuations and modelling. Prior experience in carbon offsetting project development or operation is a plus.
- Quantitative background with strong numerical modelling skills. Full proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills (including Power Query) are needed for the role. Advanced data visualisation skills (such as PowerBI and Tableau) are desirable. Familiarity with programming is a plus.
- Passionate with a profound intellectual curiosity about energy transition, especially carbon management and carbon offsetting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work on large datasets accurately. Interested in using both qualitative and quantitative methods to answer market questions.
- Strong communication skills in written and verbal English are necessary, with demonstrated ability and comfort in interacting with clients and industry stakeholders.
