The British School of Barcelona (BSB) is a great school in a wonderful location. We are an HMC school and were judged by a recent BSO (British Schools Overseas) Inspection to be outstanding in every area, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare and academic outcomes.

We are based in three locations, two just outside the city of Barcelona - in Castelldefels, where we have a Primary, Secondary and Pre-University campus, and in the cosmopolitan town of Sitges, where we have another Primary campus. BSB City is in the heart of the city of Barcelona itself with a Foundation campus (built September 2021), and a brand-new main campus which opened in September 2023. Over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities attend the school across the three campuses and over 315 staff work at BSB.

BSB City Secondary has a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum. There is a wide range of GCSEs offered followed by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Years 12 and 13, all alongside a significant enrichment programme.

**About the role**

We are looking for a full-time, permanent Geography Teacher for our BSB City campus, to start in September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity in a growing school to play a key role in shaping the department and opportunities for student. However, there is an established team at Castelldefels who can offer considerable expertise and support.

As a teacher:

- Teach Geography up to IGCSE. The ability to offer IBDP would be an advantage.
- Deliver outstanding lessons in an innovative and inspirational way.
- Have high expectations of all students and track progress based on relevant data, observations and a wide range of assessments.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of work.
- Assess students’ work in line with school policies and procedures, referring to student performance targets.

2. Wider departmental contribution
- Support the delivery of the vision for your department and BSB more widely.
- Support the collaborative planning within your department, developing an exciting and engaging curriculum.
- Support robust and formative assessment systems within your department and the programme for intervention.
- Contribute towards professional development conversations of others within your team and actively seek opportunities for your own personal development.

3. Other responsibilities
- Continue your personal development and participate in the school’s staff development and performance management programme.
- Attend staff meetings, open evenings, and parents’ evenings.
- Attend assemblies and staff morning briefing.
- As a tutor, support the pastoral care for your form group.
- Contribute to the extra curricular programme of the school.
- Do anything reasonable required by the Headteacher and Principal.

**A university degree with QTS or international equivalent is essential, as is relevant experience in secondary school. This position is potentially suitable for newly qualified teachers.**
