**The role**

Our group participates in the GENCODE project, which aims to map genes and regulatory elements in human and mouse genomes. The Guigó lab contributes by producing high-quality transcriptome sequencing data, focusing on improving the annotation of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) genes. We use advanced methods like Capture Long-Seq (CLS), a technique developed at the CRG.

We are searching for a junior talented lab technician to join the group. Your role will involve collaborating closely with our experimental team to optimize protocols for long-read sequencing, conduct quality control, and perform RNA sequencing experiments using Oxford Nanopore.

**About the lab**

The overarching theme of the research in our lab is the understanding of the information encoded in genomic sequences, and how this information is processed in the pathway leading from DNA to RNA and protein sequences. More specifically, we are interested in the epigenetic regulation of gene expression and RNA processing, the relationship between molecular phenotypes and higher-order endophenotypes and organismal phenotypes, and the identification of functional regions on the genome of all living beings. Our group is mostly computational, and we do both large-scale data analysis and methods development, but it also has an important experimental component. We are past and current members of many large-scale international functional genomics projects, such as ENCODE, GTEx, BluePrint and others.

**Professional experience**

**Must Have**
- FP2/CFGS Laboratory technician or equivalent

**Desirable but not **required**
- Experience in molecular biology
- Experience with automated laboratory equipment
- Experience in the maintenance of laboratory paper and electronic registries
- Experience in handling, processing and storage of biological samples and associated data
- Good computer skills

**Education and training**

**Languages**
- Fluency in spoken and written English

**Technical skills**
- You have advanced MS Office skills
- You have skills in Molecular Biology procedures (PCR, cell culture, sequencing library preparation methods)
- You have skills in experimental methods development and improvement

**Competences**
- Highly developed organisational skills
