DevOps Engineer

**Who are we?**

We are the DEUS initiative, and we are all about exploring technology in the service of humanity. No, we are not calling ourselves gods(), but our name is a reference to ‘deus ex machina’ (_god from the machine_ in latin). We believe that artificial intelligence technologies such as machine learning, computer vision and natural language processing will have a massive impact on the way we live, and we want to make sure that we create a positive impact on the world with these services and their foundational platforms and interfaces.

As a happy coincidence, **DEUS** is also an acronym representing the 4 key disciplines we believe are important to building successful intelligent services**:D**ata / **E**ngineering / **U**ser-experience design / **S**trategy.

DEUS is a new initiative, but the founders have been working together for years so there is a family feel to the company. We have a beautiful office right in the historical central canals of Amsterdam, and we are in the process of establishing our Iberian bases in Porto and Galicia.

**Who are you?**
- you have grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership.
- you have a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline. Equivalent practical experience is a reasonable substitute.
- you have a minimum 3+ years of experience on DevOps/SRE or equivalent
- you are experienced in Python
- you are experienced on bash scripting or PowerShell
- you have experience with Kubernetes and Docker
- you are experienced with DevOps in Azure cloud.
- you have experience with deployment and support of Azure services
- you know your way around a Linux environment and have a good understanding of its fundamentals and internals: filesystems and modern memory management, threads and processes, the user/kernel-space divide, etc.
- you know how to implement infrastructure as code (Terraform)
**Some of the tasks you might be doing in this role**:

- Help product teams to develop and deploy on a cloud native environment
- Ensure all key services are measured, monitored and raising alerts when needed
Develop reliability tools and frameworks for use by all engineers and products
- Coach and train developers on DevOps best practices
- Research, develop, configure and implement tools for continuous integration and continuous delivery
- Drive efficiencies in products and processes: capacity planning, configuration management, performance tuning, monitoring, backup/restore and root cause analysis.

- Excellent written and verbal English is the only core requirement, but Dutch and any other languages are always a bonus
- We will provide top hardware [macbook pro etc] and the latest software - we use the right tools for the job.
