The Shell Engineering Services team is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to join the team. The Engineering Services team is a multi-disciplinary team of engineers working to support the multi-disciplinary production teams. Engineering Services team members gain exposure from other disciplines to help round their experience and knowledge in the petrochemical industry.

The Instrumentation Engineer plays a key role in overall safety and reliability of the operating units at our Sarnia Manufacturing Centre. This team member is accountable for providing engineering support to the production teams in resolving mid to long term challenges and integrating with other production team members to resolve issues. The Instrumentation Engineer provides technical advice, troubleshooting, assurance and start up assistance to the Reliability, Maintenance, Projects, and Production Teams. Support reliability team with influence on site routine, infrastructure and pitstop budgets.

There is flexibility to work a hybrid schedule in this role if desired (2 days remote and 3 days from the manufacturing centre per week).

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct failure analysis of all significant instrumentation failures and causal failure analysis on all other instrumentation failures
- Maintain plans to replace instrumentation infrastructure through obsolescence
- Provide resolutions for instrumentation related Mitigate Threats & Opportunities threats
- Integrate equipment strategies through the Reliability Centered Maintenance process
- Take part in instrumentation scopes with Production, Maintenance and Technical teams
- Integration and review of management of change elements for instrumentation
- Pursue resolution of bad actors including integrating the investigations and recommending resolutions
- Support instrumentation selection, installation, commissioning and start up activities
- Ensure technical recommendations reflect statutory, Federal, and Provincial regulations, Shell Standards and good engineering practices
- Provide engineering for small and medium initiatives to support site safety, reliability and growth
- Provide technical assurance of preventive maintenance activities, pitstop, project and turnaround activities

**Skills & Requirements**
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role
- Must be a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario or have the ability to acquire
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Safety (SIS), Cause and Effect and Hazards, Effects, Management Process (HEMP)
- Knowledge and skill in instrumentation practices and procedures, and appropriate codes
