We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, who will be responsible for advising and managing the legal affairs of Hydro companies in Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Job Responsibilities:
You will become part of a team of ca. 50 international, generalist lawyers located around the world. In this position, it is expected to work on a variety of legal matters, for example:
- Partner with the business to respond to requests for assistance on a wide range of legal issues.
- Support ongoing compliance initiatives, including validating implementation of corrective actions, delivering training, and executing other strategic initiatives.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad variety of contracts dealing with our customers and suppliers, including non-disclosure agreements, supply agreements, energy agreements, data privacy agreements, stocking/consignment agreements, and consulting agreements.
- Gather and prepare information necessary to resolve disputes, develop legal arguments, and work with outside counsel.
- Assist with an array of strategic enterprise-wide projects including introducing new internal legal playbooks and templates.
- Handle various real estate and environmental matters for our owned and leased locations.
- Handle corporate secretary filings, POA´s and other legal administrative support.
- Actively partner with and manage outside counsel in the matters in which they are engaged.
Job Requirements:
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills are desirable, along with the desire and ability to learn and grow.
- Must be fluent in English; positively valuing other languages such as Portuguese or Italian.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as attorney in a commercial law-firm and/or in-house legal department in an international company.
- Registered as a practicing lawyer in the Spanish Bar Association.
- Proactive and enthusiastic, “can do”, “team-playing” attitude.
- 20% travel to plant locations in Spain, Portugal and Italy, with some international travel (e.g. to a global Legal Summit per year). This is a hybrid position, with the flexibility to work from home one to two days per week.
