**Lead Consultant/Consultant - Packet Network Engineering

**Role purpose**

**Network Engineering **is part of Colt’s Technology vertical that is responsible to design, test develop novel network infrastructure and services based on industry leading SDN and NFV solution in line with our strategy and vision. The team also delivers design for solutions encompassing Colt’s network and solutions for specific customer needs.

The role is part of the Packet network engineering work stream that drives the technology engine to design, test & validate and deploy Colt’s high capacity MPLS networks with software defined and virtualised network components.

**Key accountabilities**
- Lead the design and development of security and network architecture and solutions in service provider MPLS based networks necessary to support the Colt products and Services which includes High level/low level designs, type approval testing and deployment.
- Testing & Evaluation - Testing requirements definition and network testing not excluding test build setups, product /appliance features, system capabilities and integration.
- Implementation of network standards and services architecture in solutions designs
- Evaluation of new systems, platform, technology and features for the introduction into the Colt networks.
- Provide all the required documentation, system diagrams, provisioning and troubleshooting guides
- Deployment and rollout of new design and services architecture as per low level design.
- Liaison and handover solutions as part of the projects to service Delivery, service Operations teams.
- Interface with supplier / vendors in hardware and software roadmaps to accommodate Colt’s technology needs in vendor’s future development.
- Maintain and update the technical libraries, engineering documentation & release management libraries.
- Support stakeholder teams across the globe with escalation, vendor technical issues, technology collaborations & discussions.
- Supports and delivers development of network improvements and drives continual improvement
- Provide transfer of knowledge sessions / trainings to Learning & development teams & stakeholder teams if requirements.
- Actively participate in technical forums and other specialist communities.

- Introduction of Colt’s service platforms as part of the product and technology development roadmap on time, quality and within budget.
- Integration of network architecture and organizational activities across Colt operating geographies
- Drive efficiencies through the implementation of new technologies, suppliers and architectures to achieve the target KPIs set.
- Deliver the end-to-end Architectural Vision that will enable Colt to generate growth, innovate, drive simplification and deliver competitive advantage.

**Relationships and key contacts
- Technology collaboration with Strategy and Architecture, Product Management, Capacity Management.
- Deliver technology transfer to customer experience organization - Network Operations NOC / TAC etc. Service Delivery teams.
- Interactions and collaboration with technology suppliers.
- Interface and support to customer bid projects - Sales Engineers and Technical Solution Managers.

**Role specific requirements**

**Skills & Experience
- 10- 15 years of overall experience in managed IT/Network services related industry.
- Flair for a strong methodical engineering discipline & ability to excel in a fast paced network service provider environment which involves network and system design, testing, implementation, configuration, documentation and support.
- Fair understanding and practical hand on experience of IP routing and MPLS- OSPF/ISIS, BGP, L3VPN services.
- Excellent understanding network switching deployments and functions - VLANs, dot1q, QinQ, XVLAN, STP protocols and evolving DC overlay technologies.
- Hands on experience on major service provider routing and switching platforms from Cisco or Juniper or other routing vendor.
- Experience in testing and validation of network hardware, feature, functions and design including hands on one of testing tools like Spirent/Agilent/Ixia/ or other traffic generators and test tools
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills able to articulate technical concepts into documentation.
- Excellent analytical skills, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
- Ability to lead complex projects by collaborating with multiple teams, functions and vendors etc.

**Skills required**:

- In-depth knowledge of at-least one **SD-WAN** vendor deployment -Viptela, Versa Networks, Nuage, Silver Peak, Velocould, Aryaka
