Design Manager

**About the Role**

The Design Managers role is to manage and successfully deliver the design on time with due consideration to safety in design (CDM) and sustainability requirements in line with Global Switch’s policies, systems and procedures.

The Design Manager is responsible for delivering the design to budget, maintaining strict change control protocols and understanding design contingency at all stages of the design. Working with the other members of the technical team the Design Manager is responsible for finding opportunities through value engineering, procurement and buildability to deliver and where appropriate enhance the profitability of the design.

At every opportunity, it is expected that the Design Manager will actively support excellent working relationships with our Clients, Consultants and supply chain so that the Global Switch relationships are reinforced and maintained throughout the project.

At all phases of the project, the Design Manager must ensure that the consultant and general contractor design remain fully compliant with all statutory consent including planning consent, building control, CDM regulations, sustainability requirements and Global Switch engineering guides.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Producing and agreeing the Design Responsibilities Matrix
- Chairing all types of Design Meetings & Workshops
- Reviewing consultant design information
- Resolving RFI’s and queries raised against the design & resolving design interfaces
- Delivering the design in line with our Model 1st principals
- Assisting with obtaining/ discharging statutory approvals (Building Control, Planning, BREEAM etc.)
- Ensuring Global Switch is compliant with our duties under the CDM Regulations 2015
- Responsible for Change Control of the design

**Key Requirements**:

- A relevant degree in an associated field or equivalent experience
- Significant post qualification experience, ideally in the Data Centre industry.
